Granola made with oats, nuts, and maple syrup is a fantastic breakfast or snack option when paired with your favorite yogurt, milk, or smoothie bowl. This recipe yields a granola that isn’t too sweet, but if you prefer a sweeter version, just add a bit more maple syrup. I used a mix of almonds, cashews in equal parts, and a few flax seeds, but feel free to get creative and use any nuts and seeds you like.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of rolled oats
- 2 cups of nuts and seeds
- 1/2 cup of maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
- Chop the nuts.
- In a large, deep bowl, mix all the ingredients together.
- Spread the mixture evenly on parchment paper on a baking sheet and place it in the middle rack of the oven.
- Bake for about 40-45 minutes at 150°C (300°F), stirring the granola every 10 minutes.
- Remove the granola from the oven and let it cool completely.
- Store the cooled granola in a container or jar at room temperature.
* Feel free to add dried fruits to the finished granola. I added dried cranberries, which are fantastic!
* You can substitute maple syrup with agave syrup, but use about twice as much because it’s not as sweet.
* Use a suitably sized baking sheet or rack so you can spread the mixture in an even, thin layer for uniform cooking.
* Use rolled oats for this recipe.
* For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free oats.
